Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2 reaches Platform Stability

Google has confirmed that the Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2 has achieved Platform Stability, a milestone that allows app developers to concentrate on testing and refining their applications without the concern of unexpected changes. This stability is crucial as developers gear up for the final release of their apps.

The update bears the build number BP41.250822.010. According to the Release Notes, a new requirement known as Android developer verification will be implemented to link individuals or organizations with their Android applications. This initiative aims to enhance security by making it more challenging for malicious entities to distribute malware or engage in fraudulent activities through anonymous applications.

Starting in September 2026, in select regions, Android will mandate that apps be registered by verified developers to be installed on certified Android devices, with exceptions for installations via the Android Debug Bridge (ADB).
