Google is on the verge of broadening the reach of its innovative Nano Banana AI image-generation tool, as evidenced by recent discoveries within the company’s app code. This expansion is set to encompass several Android services, including Google Lens, Circle to Search, and AI Mode in Search.

Integration Insights

Since its launch in August as part of the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model, Nano Banana has captured the imagination of users, amassing over 200 million edits in a matter of weeks. The tool has garnered acclaim for its user-friendly capabilities, allowing individuals to edit photos, create figurines, and restore vintage images simply through text prompts. This ease of use has sparked a wave of viral trends across social media platforms.

Recent findings in version 16.40.18.sa.arm64 of the Google app for Android have unveiled exciting prospects for integration. A new “Create” button, adorned with Nano Banana’s signature banana logo, has surfaced in the navigation bar of Google Lens. This feature will empower users to capture images and seamlessly apply edits within the app’s interface.

Further evidence points to a similar feature in Circle to Search, where a “Create” option is visible in the menu above selected image segments. However, it is important to note that this feature is still in the early stages of development and is currently non-functional.

Additionally, Nano Banana is anticipated to make its debut in AI Mode for Search. A beta version has revealed a revamped prompt box that includes a “Create images” option, aligning perfectly with Google’s description of the tool within the Gemini framework.

While Google has not yet made an official announcement regarding this rollout, speculation has been fueled by Rajan Patel, Vice President of Engineering for Search and co-founder of Lens. He recently shared the Android Authority report on X, teasingly encouraging followers to “keep your ???? peeled ????.”

Previous reports have hinted at the possibility of Nano Banana being integrated with Google Photos, suggesting that the tool may eventually become a staple across Google’s broader ecosystem. If fully realized, this integration promises to make AI-powered image editing more accessible and efficient for a vast array of Android users, revolutionizing the creative photo editing landscape.
