Xbox Players Encounter Crashes Following Minecraft Update
In a turn of events that has left Xbox players feeling frustrated, the recent Minecraft update, version 1.21.113, has inadvertently led to a wave of crashes, booting users back to their home screens. Initially intended to address bugs from the previous release, the hotfix has instead created a new set of challenges for gamers eager to dive back into their virtual worlds.
Social media platforms have become a hub for players voicing their discontent. On X, many have taken to tagging both Mojang and Xbox support in hopes of a swift resolution. One user, @husky6678, lamented their inability to play, stating they have been unable to access the game for “the past 6-7 hours”, as it repeatedly “loads the Mojang screen then boots me back to the Xbox home screen.” Another player, @JesusJLP, shared their experience of being “stuck on the loading screen” before ultimately being ejected from the game entirely.
The r/Minecraft subreddit has also seen a surge in posts detailing similar issues. User MoistTurkeyThe_1st chronicled their extensive troubleshooting efforts, which included restarting their console, unplugging devices, and even deleting and reinstalling the game. Despite these attempts, they found that digital versions were particularly affected, while physical disc games continued to function without issue.
In a similar vein, user Sleeping_Dread described their own desperate measures, which included clearing cache and deleting all saved data, including cloud saves. Their frustration was palpable as they expressed, “Goddamnit Mojang.. just.. goddamnit.” Another commenter, firly14, succinctly captured the collective sentiment: “Like why tf did they update it if it was just gonna make it crash.”
The issue has not gone unnoticed by Mojang’s official bug tracker, where numerous players have submitted tickets regarding version 1.21.113. One report highlights the game crashing “on the Mojang loading screen without an error message” after users attempted reinstalls and console restarts. Another ticket notes that “lots of other people have been having problems with this too.”
Interestingly, the Mojira bug tracker site itself appears to be experiencing slow load times or outages, likely due to the influx of users seeking updates on the situation. As of now, Mojang has yet to publicly acknowledge the crashing issue, leaving players in a state of anticipation for a forthcoming patch. Given the rapid accumulation of complaints, it is reasonable to expect that the developer will prioritize a fix in the near future.
