I switched to zero sugar energy drinks in 2025 and now tracking down Call of Duty double XP is more annoying and less tasty

Health Choices and Gaming Rituals

As the dawn of 2025 approaches, the commitment to a healthier lifestyle has ushered in a series of unexpected sacrifices. Among these, the most surprising has been the decision to forgo the enticing allure of Call of Duty’s double XP events. It’s been over a decade since I last immersed myself fully in the world of Call of Duty, yet the nostalgia remains strong. Like a holiday churchgoer, I find joy in the familiar rituals: diving straight into multiplayer matches with friends, exploring the revamped perks each year, and indulging in the thrill of double XP tokens derived from the bottom of a Monster Energy can.

This year, however, I find myself reflecting on a curious trend that has emerged within the gaming community—the “white Monster girl.” While I may not be deeply entrenched in the latest video-based social platforms, I’ve come across a fascinating creation: an individual who crafted a suit of armor and a formidable sword from the flattened remnants of white Monster cans, complete with the recognizable orange Black Ops 7 logos. It’s a testament to creativity, though I can’t help but wonder about the consumption habits that led to such a project. Hopefully, they managed to enjoy their drinks responsibly, perhaps even cashing in on some of that coveted double XP.

Regrettably, it seems I will be sitting out this year’s Call of Duty rituals. While it’s a bittersweet realization, I recognize that if it truly mattered to me, I could easily overcome the saccharine taste of a white Monster or simply buy one and pour it down the sink. Yet, I find myself at peace with this choice, embracing the journey toward better health while cherishing the memories of gaming past.
