If your OnePlus smartphone or smartwatch has recently displayed outdated weather data—or none at all—you are not alone in this experience. A significant number of OnePlus users have reported that the native weather application has ceased to function properly.
Widespread Issues Across Devices
Reports flooding in from the OnePlus subreddit indicate that the company’s weather app has encountered issues across a range of devices, from the latest OnePlus 15 to the older OnePlus 13. Users are finding the app stuck on previous forecasts or, in some cases, completely unresponsive.
Mishaal Rahman, Editor-at-large at Android Authority, has also confirmed similar problems on his own OnePlus devices. Interestingly, some OnePlus 15 users in Europe, as well as colleagues in India, have noted that their OnePlus Weather app continues to function, hinting that the issue may be specific to certain devices or regions.
Some users suggest that Oxygen OS 16, which is pre-installed on the OnePlus 15 and has been rolled out to other models, is struggling to fetch updated weather data from OnePlus’ servers. However, others have reported experiencing the same problem on devices running Oxygen OS 15 and 14, indicating a broader issue.
Impact on Smartwatch Users
The situation is no better for smartwatch users, as the OnePlus Watch 3 is also displaying outdated or missing temperature readings. One owner reported encountering error messages such as “location not found” and “network error.” Attempts to resolve the issue by clearing the cache, adjusting location settings, or checking background data have proven ineffective.
For many users, the built-in weather app is an essential component of their home screen setup. When it fails to update, it diminishes the overall reliability of the device, regardless of its hardware capabilities. For commuters, travelers, or anyone who relies on timely weather updates, this outdated information can pose significant inconveniences.
While third-party weather applications can provide current forecasts, only OnePlus can rectify the underlying issue within its ecosystem. Although the company has yet to acknowledge the problem, the increasing number of reports suggests that a software update or server fix is likely on the horizon.
