Game publisher Com2uS has embarked on an exciting new venture with the announcement of GACHIAKUTA: The Game, a survival action RPG inspired by the beloved manga and anime franchise. Currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, the game is generating buzz, although a specific release date remains under wraps.
The reveal was accompanied by a trailer that showcases the game’s in-development graphics, inviting fans to “crawl back from the abyss of Hell to change this lousy world.” This adaptation seeks to capture the series’ gritty aesthetic and adrenaline-fueled battles, utilizing the distinctive graffiti art created by Hideyoshi Ando, which has become synonymous with the source material.
As the franchise gains traction, the timing of this announcement is particularly fortuitous. The production team behind the Gachiakuta television anime has confirmed that a second season is officially in the works, following the successful conclusion of the first season.
The inaugural season of the anime, produced by Studio BONES, followed the journey of protagonist Rudo, voiced by Aoi Ichikawa. After being wrongfully accused of murder and thrown into a trash-filled abyss, Rudo teams up with a group known as the Cleaners to combat “trash beasts” using their unique powers. This premise aligns seamlessly with the survival action genre that the upcoming game aims to explore.
Original creator Kei Urana launched the manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in February 2022, and it continues to captivate readers with its ongoing serialization. With a second anime season in production and a multi-platform console game on the horizon, Gachiakuta is rapidly solidifying its presence in the media landscape.
As the development of GACHIAKUTA: The Game progresses, fans can anticipate more updates in the near future. For now, a trailer is available, offering a glimpse into the thrilling world that awaits.
