According to reports, the setting features an upgraded art style and a larger, previously unseen environment designed to expand the game’s universe beyond the original tracks.
Subway Surfers City
The makers of the global mobile hit Subway Surfers have announced a full sequel, Subway Surfers City, marking the franchise’s biggest expansion since its 2012 debut. Reports say the new game will launch worldwide on February 26 on iOS and Android, with pre-registration now open.
Developed by SYBO, the original studio behind Subway Surfers, the sequel aims to refresh the long-running endless runner while keeping its core appeal intact.
A new setting inside Subway City
Unlike the original game’s globe-trotting World Tour format, Subway Surfers City brings players into a single animated metropolis called Subway City. The city is divided into four districts that players can unlock and race through: The Docks, Southline, Sunrise Blvd and Delorean Park.
The environment features an upgraded art style and a broader, previously unseen setting designed to expand the game’s universe.

Fresh gameplay features added
The sequel introduces several new mechanics to change how players move through runs. These include speed pads that boost progress, a stomp move that helps uncover hidden advantages, and a bouncy shield that improves jumping ability.
SYBO has also confirmed that the game will receive seasonal updates. Each season will add new neighbourhoods, along with additional characters, outfits and hoverboards.
Three modes to play
Subway Surfers City will offer three distinct modes. Classic Endless keeps the familiar fast-paced, high-score chase. City Tour is a new level-based mode where players complete missions, explore districts and collect hidden stars. Events mode will rotate timed runs and special challenges designed to test players’ skills.
A franchise with massive reach
The original Subway Surfers launched in 2012 and has crossed 4.5 billion lifetime downloads. According to the developer, it continues to attract around 100 to 150 million monthly active players and has built a social media following of more than 30 million.
SYBO has described the sequel as the next chapter in the franchise’s nearly 15-year legacy, combining familiar characters with new ideas and mechanics. Subway Surfers City will be free to download, with in-app purchases available.
