The film has soared past A Minecraft Movie, amassing an impressive 4.2 million at the domestic box office and a staggering .85 billion worldwide, with .425 billion coming from international markets. This sequel follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, which grossed billion globally back in 2016. Notably, 7.9 million of Zootopia 2‘s earnings were generated in 2025 alone, propelling the franchise’s total to nearly billion worldwide.
Both films took approximately the same time to achieve their final box office figures, each reaching their milestones in about three months. Zootopia 2 accomplished this impressive feat in just 91 days. This marks the second consecutive year that Walt Disney Studios has delivered the number one domestic release, with Lilo & Stitch and Avatar: Fire & Ash also ranking among the top four domestic releases of 2025.
Record-Breaking Success
The sequel, directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, has shattered numerous records since its release. It boasts a global five-day opening of 9.5 million, marking the largest animated opening in cinematic history. Furthermore, Zootopia 2 has become the fastest animated MPA and PG film to reach billion worldwide, achieving this milestone in just 17 days. The film’s theatrical power is evident, as it has maintained a position in the top 10 domestically for an impressive 13 consecutive weeks.
