RRedating: Where Valorant Meets E-Dating
Imagine a high-stakes scenario in Valorant: you find yourself in a 1v5 situation on Haven’s B site. Armed with a Phantom and a flicker of hope, you take down one opponent, then another, executing a well-timed dash to eliminate two more. Just as you think victory is within reach, a Radiant player sneaks up from behind, leaving your health dwindling. In a moment of brilliance, you Updraft away, Tailwind reset, and soar above them, landing the perfect kill. Your team erupts in excitement, but amidst the chaos, one message stands out: ‘UwU.’ In that instant, a spark ignites, but how do you seize the moment in the heat of battle? Enter RRedating.
RRedating is touted as “a (totally not serious) community e-dating site,” designed for those who wish to find their e-date and perhaps stop dropping their Immortal buddies in Swiftplay. The platform operates like any conventional dating site: users can browse profiles and either ‘pass’ or send a request to chat with potential matches.
To create a profile, users must provide their RiotID and tag, along with their age and gender. The site prompts you to share which agents you play, your primary role, and your peak or current Valorant rank—note that LARPing as a Radiant is strictly prohibited. The creator, known as ‘JDawesome23,’ emphasizes that the site is intended for users over 18, given the often chaotic nature of the Valorant LFG Discord server, and clarifies that RRedating is not affiliated with Riot Games. Although the site has experienced downtime in the past, JDawesome23 assures users that numerous bug fixes have been implemented, resulting in a smoother experience.
As a journalist with a flair for adventure, I was curious to see how quickly my inbox would fill with requests, even without a profile picture or detailed information. Within minutes of joining, I received a “duo request.” Despite being happily in a relationship, I opted to decline this Immortal 1 suitor—better luck next time.
Shortly after, I received another request from a user humorously named ‘King Gooner.’ Unfortunately, my inability to perform a backflip disqualified me from meeting his relationship criteria. A third request came in, featuring a profile with an actual photo, followed by a fourth request from none other than Valorant icon Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo. In less than an hour, I had four Duo Requests, including one from a world-renowned esports player, all without providing any personal details. It’s a rather flattering situation.
The demographics of RRedating users reveal intriguing insights. According to the RRedating Discord, the user base consists of 80 males to 20 females, with six individuals identifying as another gender. The majority of players fall within the 18 to 21 age bracket (73 respondents), while those aged 22 to 25 make up the second-largest group (49 respondents). Interestingly, players over 26—represented with an old man emoji—are the smallest demographic, totaling just 13 responses.
The first version of RRedating attracted over 9,000 players, a notable achievement in itself. The intertwining of Valorant and romance seems to resonate with many, as evidenced by my conversations with developers of Amorant, a real dating sim inspired by the Agents of Romance April Fool’s joke from 2021.
While I may not be entirely sold on the concept of Valorant evolving into an e-dating marketplace, I appreciate the joy it brings to the community. RRedating may not rival Tinder anytime soon, but as long as it remains lighthearted and fun, I’m all for it. So, venture forth and discover the Chamber to your Viper or the Raze to your Killjoy. With a little luck, you might just achieve your own duo account dreams—life goals, accomplished.
