Windows 11 has exceeded 70 per cent of Steam users for the first time

The latest hardware and software survey conducted by Valve reveals a significant milestone for Microsoft’s operating system. For the first time, the share of Windows 11 among Steam users has surpassed 70 percent, now standing at an impressive 70.44%. This shift underscores the growing acceptance of Windows 11 within the gaming community.

Decline of Windows 10

In contrast, Windows 10 continues to see a decline, with its share dropping by 0.43 percentage points to 23.56%. Meanwhile, despite the cessation of mainstream support, Windows 7 still clings to a presence, utilized by 0.07% of respondents in the survey.

Overall, Windows maintains its dominance in the operating system landscape on Steam, commanding a robust share of 94.10%. In comparison, Linux holds a modest 3.69%, while macOS accounts for 2.21%.

Shifts in Graphics Cards

In a notable development within the graphics card market, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU has ascended to become the most prevalent model among Steam users, capturing a share of 4.02%. This marks a shift from the previously dominant GeForce RTX 3060, which now stands at 3.88%.

Stable Processor Market

On the processor front, stability reigns. Intel continues to lead with a share of 55.08%, while AMD holds a close 44.92%. Both companies have experienced little fluctuation in their market shares over the past month.

Memory and Display Preferences

Among other noteworthy metrics, 16 GB of RAM remains the preferred configuration for gamers, representing 41.57% of users. Additionally, the 1920×1080 resolution continues to be the favorite display choice, although there is a gradual rise in the popularity of 2560×1440 monitors.
