Android Auto just became much more useful for motorcycle riders with this app update

In a significant advancement for motorcycle enthusiasts, Sygic has unveiled its Motorbike Mode, now fully integrated with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This development marks a pivotal moment for riders who have long faced a scarcity of tailored navigation solutions within the Android Auto ecosystem.

Enhanced Navigation Experience for Riders

Traditionally, navigation apps on Android Auto have been predominantly designed with car users in mind, leaving motorcyclists to rely on phone mounts or specialized GPS devices. Sygic’s latest offering changes this narrative by providing a dedicated motorcycle navigation experience that goes beyond mere adaptations of car-centric applications.

The Motorbike Mode, initially launched as a standalone feature earlier this year, is engineered specifically for two-wheel aficionados. Unlike conventional navigation systems that prioritize the quickest routes, Sygic’s approach caters to the preferences of riders, allowing them to explore twisty roads rather than just highways. The app also offers real-time elevation changes, monitors lean angles, and provides weather updates, ensuring that riders are well-informed throughout their journeys. Additionally, offline maps ensure that users remain equipped even in areas with limited mobile coverage.

The integration with Android Auto allows motorcyclists to utilize their bike’s built-in display, enhancing usability with larger, more legible maps. Riders will benefit from high-visibility alerts regarding hazards, speed limits, accidents, and weather changes. Furthermore, navigation controls can be accessed through the native buttons on the motorcycle, eliminating the need to reach for a phone while riding. Voice guidance is also available through compatible Bluetooth helmet systems, ensuring a seamless navigation experience.

Sygic’s decision to expand its Motorbike Mode to Android Auto stems directly from user feedback. Following the feature’s smartphone debut in March, many riders expressed a desire for a similar experience on their motorcycle dashboards, particularly for touring and adventure bikes equipped with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. The latest update, version 26.4, aims to fulfill these requests.

This innovative feature is compatible with aftermarket displays and select models from manufacturers such as Honda, Harley-Davidson, and Indian, which support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. While the core navigation experience is accessible through the Motorbike Mode add-on, some premium features remain exclusive to Sygic’s Premium+ subscription, offering users the option to enhance their navigation capabilities further.
