The 40th Anniversary of Castlevania
On September 26, 2026, the Castlevania video game series celebrates its 40th anniversary. Konami announced that to commemorate this milestone, the original Nintendo Entertainment System version of Castlevania will be available for free for a limited time on the App Store and Google Play.
As a token of gratitude to all the players who have supported the series over the years, Konami is delighted to share the game that started it all. They hope that players will enjoy experiencing the beginning of the Castlevania saga as part of this special 40th-anniversary celebration.
Castlevania is a gothic horror action game that was first released in Japan in 1986, followed by its international debut on the NES in 1987. The franchise has grown to include more than 30 titles over the years.
Free App Download
The distribution period for the free app download is from today (Sept. 25) through October 24. Players who download the game during this time will be able to download and play it even after that date.
