After a prolonged anticipation marked by delays and leaks, Rockstar Games is set to unveil its highly awaited title, GTA 6, next month. This new chapter in the Grand Theft Auto saga will be available exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, leaving PC gamers in a state of uncertainty as the game will not initially launch on their platform.
However, a silver lining has emerged for those hesitant to invest in a new console, especially given the current market prices. Recent reports indicate that Xbox has secured exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6, allowing players to access the game on a variety of devices, including PCs, smartphones, and handheld gaming consoles.
PC Players Will Be Able to Play GTA 6 via Xbox Cloud Gaming
According to Tom Warren’s report on The Verge, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma informed employees that the company will be the sole provider of cloud streaming for GTA 6. This means that while PlayStation users may have to wait for a streaming option, PC players will have the opportunity to enjoy the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming when it launches on November 16.
To access GTA 6 via cloud streaming, PC players will need to purchase a copy of the game through Xbox. As there is no dedicated PC version announced, this raises questions about future compatibility and whether players might have to buy the game again for their computers later on.
In addition, Xbox is introducing new cloud streaming hour limitations, which are structured as follows:
- Game Pass Ultimate: 15 hours per month
- Game Pass Premium: 10 hours per month
- Game Pass Essential: 5 hours per month
Players can opt to purchase additional streaming hours, although this would entail extra costs. Furthermore, a reliable internet connection and proximity to a server are essential for an optimal gaming experience, free from latency and quality issues. While this option may not be ideal for everyone, it offers a viable alternative for those unwilling to wait for a potential PC release or invest in a new gaming console.
As the launch date approaches, excitement continues to build around GTA 6, promising to deliver a fresh experience for both console and cloud gamers alike.
