Demon’s Souls runs on PC at 60 FPS, while God of War Ragnarok still blinds players – PlayStation games tested on KyTyPS5 emulator

In the realm of gaming, the evolution of PlayStation 5 emulation is progressing at an impressive pace. Enthusiasts have transitioned from merely launching titles like the Demon’s Souls remake to experiencing them at enhanced frame rates that elevate gameplay to new heights.

Impressive Performance Metrics

Recently, Geralt Benchmarks showcased the capabilities of the KytyPS5 emulator, version v20261017, while testing the Demon’s Souls remake. On a robust setup featuring an MD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor paired with a GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card, the emulator achieved an average of over 60 frames per second (FPS). With the activation of frame generation, this figure soared to an impressive 120 FPS. Although the emulator is still in its developmental stages, the results are promising.

This build allows for DLSS frame generation, although upscaling features are not yet available. Currently, the maximum resolution supported is 1440p. While stutters are still prevalent, the rapid advancements in the emulator’s performance are noteworthy.

Meanwhile, the iconic God of War Ragnarok, which has made its way to PC, is also being subjected to emulation trials. Video Game Esoterica recently highlighted a test where the game operated at a modest 10 to 25 FPS, accompanied by various graphical glitches, including unexpected bright flashes during gameplay. This illustrates the challenges that remain in achieving a seamless emulation experience.

On a more positive note, Video Game Esoterica also reported that Astro Bot runs smoothly on PC, maintaining a stable frame rate of approximately 60 FPS. This indicates that while some titles may still face hurdles, others are successfully navigating the emulation landscape.
