Gameplay Experience at PAX 2026
During my visit to PAX 2026, I had the opportunity to engage with a brief demo of Beyond These Stars, which spanned approximately fifteen minutes. The initial segment was dedicated to a tutorial, guiding me through the essential aspects of the game’s management mechanics. The latter half allowed me to take the reins, as I endeavored to expand my settlement by constructing resource harvesters and pathways, all while nurturing the bond between the space whale and its new allies.
The tutorial placed significant emphasis on Kewa’s unique circumstances, illustrating how to effectively utilize local resources and the implications of those choices on the whale’s health and happiness. This context was instrumental in shaping my understanding of the settlement’s development. The gameplay mechanics felt solid, and the intertwining narrative elements added depth to the experience, highlighting how my decisions directly impacted the life of the whale.
Visually, the game boasts a charming aesthetic, characterized by its 3D modeling and hexagonal grid layout.
