Capybara Games has unveiled its latest project, Find Your Words, a charming adventure game set in a vibrant summer camp where players embark on a journey of non-verbal communication. Scheduled for release on PC via Steam in 2026, this engaging title will be offered as a free game, complemented by an optional supporter edition for those wishing to contribute further.
Co-creator Jon Maur expressed the studio’s intention to highlight the nuances of communication differences, stating, “We wanted to shine a light on communication differences and give players an opportunity to experience what it’s like to use a simplified version of a common AAC tool.” His partner, Vic Nguyen, added, “This uplifting game celebrates small moments of delight and the joy of forging new connections, through world-exploring and problem solving. At the heart of the game is our hope for players to learn a little more about the different ways we connect as humans beyond speech.”
Game Overview
Find Your Words invites players to explore the picturesque landscapes of a summer camp, filled with wildlife and opportunities for friendship. As they navigate through this colorful environment, players will collect symbols for their communication binder, discovering that various combinations of these symbols convey unique meanings. As friendships blossom, players will also uncover the endearing quirks of their camp companions.
This project is particularly personal for Maur and Nguyen, both seasoned developers at Capybara Games and fathers of non-speaking children. Their experiences inspired them to create a game that reflects the ways their children and others like them engage with the world. With a combined 30 years of experience at Capybara Games, Maur has taken the lead on programming, writing, and design, while Nguyen has focused on the art and visuals.
The duo’s previous work includes notable titles such as Grindstone, Below, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery, and Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, showcasing their extensive background in the gaming industry.
