Our regular PC game round-up column has experienced some intriguing changes during my absence last week. In a surprising twist, substitute news chief Brendy opted for a list format adorned with subheadings. One can only speculate that he was driven to this decision by an overwhelming fear of being consumed by the Maw. Nonetheless, I choose to trust his instincts and will follow suit. Here’s a glimpse of what’s on the horizon this week.
Upcoming Releases
- Chambers – This new Weird West shooter emerges from the creative minds behind Golden Light, a title known for its distinctive aesthetic. Anticipation builds as we await their take on the classic six-shooter.
- Labyrinth Of The Demon King – A first-person dungeon-crawler steeped in the ambiance of feudal Japan. This title seems like an excellent choice for those who have ever wished for a blend of Onimusha and Silent Hill.
- The Precinct – Set in a top-down 1980s urban sandbox, players step into the shoes of a policeman battling gangs. It carries a hint of GTA while evoking memories of the gritty 1999 crime-fighter, Urban Chaos.
- Animal Spa – A delightful resort for chibi creatures that resides at the bottom of your screen, allowing you to enjoy their bathing rituals while tackling your tax returns. While it may not enhance my words per minute, it certainly adds a whimsical touch to the mundane.
- Doom: The Dark Ages – Described as “packed with gratifying and chunky violence,” this title faces criticism for its restrictive combat and tedious exploration. Our review suggests it may not live up to the legacy of its predecessor, Eternal. But let’s not forget, Doom Guy would never betray us.
- Into The Restless Ruins – A unique concept where players build dungeons as they explore them, promising an engaging experience.
- House Of Legacy – A vibrant isometric strategy management game, loosely inspired by the rich history of imperial China.
- Kulebra And The Souls Of Limbo – A whimsical adventure game infused with stealth and action, drawing inspiration from Latin American myths. Players are tasked with helping the shades of the dearly departed find closure.
On the editorial front, I’m delving into longer-form pieces exploring survival games and the theme of nihilism. Nic is on the hunt for a review game or two, collaborating with James on a word-based pub brawl featuring Doom: The Dark Ages. Meanwhile, Ollie, our local sheriff, has a myriad of plans in motion, some of which may involve Elden Ring Nightreign. Graham is busy directing the team, while Jeremy has ventured off to a peculiar realm he refers to as “Holiday.”
As for Brendy, his whereabouts remain a mystery this week, as he missed the morning meeting. However, he did provide a heads-up in a Trello note regarding Take Two Interactive’s latest financials on the 15th, which may shed light on the anticipated GTA 6 delay. Perhaps he has indeed fallen victim to the Maw—our 12th casualty this month, if so. I must admit, I’m growing weary of penning letters of condolence. So, what are your plans for the week?
