Dreamhaven makes unspecified number of layoffs

In a recent announcement on LinkedIn, Mike Morhaime, co-founder and CEO of Dreamhaven, revealed that the company will be implementing workforce reductions. This decision primarily targets the publishing arm of the organization, a move that reflects the challenging dynamics of the gaming industry.

Reflections on Change

Morhaime expressed the difficulty of such decisions, acknowledging the impact on talented colleagues who have been integral to the company’s journey. He noted, “These choices are never easy — they affect talented colleagues who have played a key role in building Dreamhaven’s foundation and supporting what has been an eventful year for us.”

Throughout the past year, Dreamhaven has made significant strides, including the successful organization of the Dreamhaven Showcase and the launch of three games. Morhaime emphasized the contributions of every team member, stating, “I’m deeply grateful for the creativity, dedication, and hard work of the teammates we are parting ways with. They will be truly missed.”

Despite the challenges faced, Morhaime remains optimistic about the company’s future. He conveyed his gratitude to the supporters of Dreamhaven, affirming, “While today’s news is hard, I remain optimistic about Dreamhaven’s future and the experiences still to come.”

Founded in 2020, Dreamhaven has already made its mark in the gaming landscape, releasing two titles from its own studio, Wildgate and Sunderfolk, alongside two games from external developers, Mechabellum and Lynked. As the company navigates this transitional phase, its commitment to innovation and quality in gaming remains steadfast.
