Emptyvessel secures $11m in Series A funding

Developer Emptyvessl has successfully raised million in Series A funding, a significant milestone that underscores the growing confidence in its innovative approach to game development. The funding round was spearheaded by NCSoft and 1AM Gaming, with additional contributions from Black Phoenix Games, Anurup Joseph, and Sebastiaan Hejne, alongside earlier investors such as Sisu Game Ventures, Raptor Group, and Compute. Notably, NCSoft had previously invested an undisclosed amount in Emptyvessl back in May of this year, showcasing a continued interest in the company’s potential.

Innovative Game Development

Emptyvessl is currently focused on its flagship project, Defect, a first-person cyberpunk squad-based shooter that promises to redefine the genre. The development team is composed of seasoned professionals who have contributed to iconic titles such as Doom, Quake, Borderlands, and The Last of Us, bringing a wealth of experience and creativity to the table.

Emanuel Palalic, CEO and game director at Emptyvessl, expressed his enthusiasm for the support received from both fans and investors. “It’s gratifying to see our developer-first approach resonating with fans and our new long-term partners at NCSoft alongside our other investors,” he remarked. Palalic emphasized the company’s commitment to crafting a unique experience within the FPS market, stating that this new funding will facilitate the expansion of single-player support and broaden their reach across various platforms.

Jeonghee Jin, CEO of NC America and NC West, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the distinct vision that Emptyvessl brings to game design and player interaction. “Emptyvessel’s distinct vision for game design, production, and player interaction made us quick believers in their upcoming shooter, Defect. We’re committed to the evolution and future of this incredible game,” Jin noted, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that underpins this partnership.
