Epic Games Store coming to ‘millions’ of Android phones in Telefónica deal

More on Epic Games:

After successfully resolving its dispute with Google, Epic Games has now secured a partnership with carrier Telefónica. This new deal will see the Epic Games Store pre-loaded on “millions” of Android phones sold by the carrier.

The announcement was made on the Epic Games Newsroom, stating that all new Android devices sold by Telefónica will come with the Epic Games Store pre-installed. This means users will have easy access to popular games like Fortnite and Fall Guys without the need for sideloading. The pre-loading will take place on devices sold in Spain, the UK, Germany, and select parts of Latin America.

Epic Games expressed their excitement about the partnership, highlighting Telefónica’s position as one of the largest telecommunications service providers globally. The collaboration aims to make Fortnite and the Epic Games Store more accessible to users on Telefónica Android devices. This initial step will allow players to effortlessly download Fortnite, Fall Guys, Rocket League Sideswipe, and future third-party games.

This agreement aligns with Epic’s long-term strategy, as the company had faced obstacles in the past, with Google blocking similar pre-loading deals with Android OEMs like LG and OnePlus in 2020. Now, with the partnership with Telefónica, Epic Games is set to expand its reach and offer a seamless gaming experience to a broader audience.
