The Askew Student Life Center (ASLC) at Florida State University recently hosted a complimentary screening of Warner Bros. Pictures’ A Minecraft Movie for students, creating an exciting opportunity for the community. This special event took place on Saturday, November 8, with doors opening at 9 p.m.

A Minecraft Movie, which debuted on April 4, boasts a runtime of 101 minutes. As anticipated, the film draws inspiration from the beloved sandbox video game, merging live-action sequences with animated, block-shaped environments. The star-studded cast features notable names such as Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Jennifer Coolidge, contributing to its widespread appeal. The film has also sparked a flurry of memes, with iconic scenes like “Chicken Jockey,” “Flint and Steel,” and “As a child I yearned for the mines” circulating widely online.

Limited activities like Open World and Creative Mode Server were available from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Other events overlapped, including the Hunger Games and Minecraft YouTube videos at 5 p.m., followed by the Bedwars Tournament at 7 p.m. The evening culminated with karaoke at 7:30 p.m., making for a lively Saturday that was completely free for FSU students.
