Extraction shooter Sand delayed from March as Ukrainian developer cites ‘a difficult few months’ with ‘severe power outages and air alert disruptions’

In a recent announcement, developer Hologryph shared that the anticipated PvPvE extraction shooter, Sand: Raiders of Sophie, will not meet its intended release date in March. The team cited ongoing challenges in Ukraine, including severe power outages and air alerts, which have significantly impacted their development timeline.

Development Challenges and Future Plans

The developers expressed their commitment to delivering a polished product, stating, “We appreciate that this isn’t the news you wanted to hear but assure you that this delay is purely in the interest of delivering you all the best SAND experience possible on launch.” They outlined several key features still in need of refinement, including:

  • Enhancements to PvE mobs
  • Improvements in server physics and performance
  • Implementation of anti-cheat measures
  • A broader arsenal of weapons

Additionally, Hologryph plans to utilize this extra development time to incorporate feedback gathered from playtests, ensuring that player input shapes the final product. While a new release date has yet to be announced, the team indicated that they would soon provide another development update, which will include details about a “server slam” event aimed at engaging the community during this interim period.
