Famed Haltom City home rocks Halloween with K-Pop & Minecraft light show

A Haltom City residence, renowned for its extravagant Christmas light displays, has embraced the spirit of Halloween with a vibrant showcase that promises to delight the community. The Gonzalez family’s “Wisdom Way Lights” has transformed into a mesmerizing spectacle featuring synchronized light shows that dance to an eclectic mix of music and film clips projected onto an LED screen.

Halloween Extravaganza

This year’s Halloween theme centers around the beloved game Minecraft, complemented by iconic figures such as Freddy Krueger from the classic horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the popular Netflix series KPop Demon Hunters. The entire show runs for approximately 13 minutes and loops nightly from 6:30 to 11:30 PM.

Jesse Gonzalez, the mastermind behind the display, expressed his excitement: “This is actually our third year doing a Halloween show, but this is for sure the biggest one thus far. We really started noticing that the Halloween show was gaining popularity each year, and the neighborhood really seemed to enjoy it, so we just continued the tradition.” He, along with his wife Angela and their children, crafted an impressive front yard setup featuring a towering 12-foot “Steve” and a 16-foot “Enderman,” both constructed from plywood and foam. The yard also boasts illuminated gravestones, bats, spiders, and a giant spiderweb adorning the house.

The film clips are projected onto the garage, accompanied by a soundtrack that includes Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” “Steve’s Lava Chicken” from A Minecraft Movie, and “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters. Visitors can enjoy the show from the comfort of their cars, tuning into the audio on radio channel 87.9 FM.

On Halloween night, the Gonzalezes will enhance the festivities by offering a free haunted house from 7 to 9:30 PM, inviting trick-or-treaters to indulge in a bounty of candy. “We will have tons of candy, and it’s open to everyone,” Gonzalez assures.

Following Halloween, the family will shift their focus to the upcoming Christmas season. While the impressive Minecraft figures will remain on display, the Gonzalezes are still contemplating their Christmas theme. “We haven’t fully decided on what we are doing for Christmas, but we have some ideas,” Jesse mentions.

Since 2012, the Gonzalezes have been creating larger-than-life, interactive light displays, consistently earning a spot on CultureMap’s list of The Best Christmas Lights in Dallas-Fort Worth. Their themes, inspired by pop culture trends, have garnered them both local fame and significant street traffic. Notably, during the pandemic in 2020, their Selena-themed display attracted visitors from far and wide, while their 2023 tribute to the Texas Rangers’ World Series win went viral.

The Wisdom Way Lights can be found at 4521 Wisdom Way, Haltom City, 76117. The Halloween-themed lights will be illuminated nightly until November 2, and entry is free. For updates, follow Wisdom Way Lights on Facebook or TikTok.
