Four years after PS5’s launch, Minecraft finally gets a native version

Celebrating a Milestone with New Features

The PlayStation 5 is on the cusp of celebrating its fourth anniversary, and in a delightful turn of events, a native version of Minecraft has finally made its debut on the platform. This long-awaited release is now available for players, offering a seamless transition for those who already own the PS4 version of the game. A simple visit to the PlayStation Store allows for a complimentary upgrade, ensuring that fans can dive right into the action without any additional cost.

As with its counterparts on other platforms, the PS5 version of Minecraft is part of the Bedrock edition, which facilitates cross-platform play. This means that players can connect and collaborate with friends on PC, mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, fostering a vibrant and interconnected gaming community.

While the PS5 version may not introduce a plethora of new features, it does come equipped with notable graphical enhancements that were previously available on the Xbox Series X. Players can now enjoy stunning 4K visuals paired with smooth gameplay at 60 frames per second, elevating the overall gaming experience.

In addition to the PS5 launch, the broader Minecraft Bedrock edition has rolled out two exciting new features. The first is a Hardcore mode, which presents a thrilling challenge by limiting players to a single life. Once that life is lost, players can only revisit their world as a ghost, adding a layer of intensity to the gameplay. The second feature introduces the ability to bundle various items together in the inventory, effectively creating folders that help manage resources more efficiently.

It’s worth noting that Minecraft is under the umbrella of Microsoft, which has been gradually expanding its game offerings on PlayStation consoles. Following the release of Minecraft, players can look forward to the arrival of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, set to launch on PS5 next year. Earlier in the year, titles such as Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment also made their way to additional platforms, with Sea of Thieves making a particularly strong impact by topping the PS5 download charts upon its debut.
