Epic Games Wins Case Against Google

Last December, Epic Games emerged victorious in a legal battle against Google. The jury of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California unanimously ruled that Google held a monopoly in the Android app distribution and in-app billing services markets.

Epic Games’ Request to Judge Donato

In April, Epic Games took further action by asking San Francisco US District Judge James Donato to require the Google Play Store to permit third-party app stores for a period of six years. They also sought limitations on agreements with device manufacturers that prevent the pre-installation of such alternative stores.

New Lawsuit Against Samsung and Google

Recently, Epic Games, the company behind popular games like Fortnite and Unreal Engine, filed a lawsuit against Samsung and Google. The legal action was in response to Auto Blocker, a feature that prevents users from accessing applications from alternative app stores, including Epic Games’ own store.
