Google rolls out AI-powered Play Games Sidekick for Android

Google Introduces Play Games Sidekick for Android Gamers

Google has recently launched a new gaming feature called Play Games Sidekick, an AI-powered assistant aimed at providing tips and tools to enhance the gaming experience on Android devices. The company unveiled Play Games Sidekick back in September 2025, and it is now being gradually rolled out to users.

The main goal of Play Games Sidekick is to offer real-time gameplay tips and support new features like Game Trials, which allow Android users to test selected games for free. Google showcased Play Games Sidekick at the Game Developers Conference, emphasizing its role in making gaming and content creation more accessible.

One of the standout features of Play Games Sidekick is its ability to enable players to record gameplay and livestream directly through YouTube Live. The overlay menu is designed to work seamlessly in both portrait and landscape modes, with AI-powered assistance providing gameplay tips within the game window. Currently, over 90 games support this feature.

Looking ahead, Google plans to integrate voice commands through Gemini Live, allowing users to initiate screen recordings or request gameplay tips using their voice. These tools are designed not to interfere with players’ ability to unlock achievements in supported games.

In addition to Play Games Sidekick, Google has also introduced Game Trials, a new Android feature that lets users download and play selected games for free for up to 60 minutes. Even after the trial period ends, players’ saved progress will be retained, allowing them to seamlessly continue playing if they opt to purchase the full version of the game. Google anticipates that the Game Trials feature will be available in the near future.
