Grand Theft Auto V is set to make its debut on PC Game Pass later this month, arriving in its newly released Enhanced edition. This upgrade, which Rockstar unveiled back in February, aligns the PC version with its console counterparts on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Players can expect enhanced graphics options and significantly reduced loading times, elevating the gaming experience.
Game Pass Expansion
Scheduled for release on April 15, this marks the first occasion that GTA V will be accessible through the PC Game Pass subscription service. In addition, the game will also be making a return to Xbox Game Pass for console players, having previously been featured in the lineup but not consistently available.
Alongside GTA V, several other titles will join Game Pass this April, including the highly anticipated day-one releases of South of Midnight, Commandos: Origins, and Blue Prince.
When the Enhanced edition launched on PC, it attracted a robust player base. However, it faced mixed reviews on Steam, primarily due to challenges with account transfers and some performance issues that left players wanting more.
Looking Ahead to GTA 6
The addition of GTA V to Game Pass comes as excitement builds for the upcoming release of GTA 6, which is anticipated to launch later this year. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, recently shared insights with Bloomberg regarding the release strategy for GTA 6. He emphasized the importance of maintaining an air of mystery surrounding the exact launch date to foster anticipation and excitement among fans.
“We do have competitors who will describe their release schedule for years in advance, and we found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand, and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation,” Zelnick explained. He acknowledged the challenge of getting this balance right but affirmed that it remains a key focus for the company.
