GTA VI PC Release Reportedly Planned for Early 2027

PC gamers may find themselves with a shorter wait for Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI than they experienced with its predecessor. A recent report suggests that the anticipated game is aiming for a release on computers in Q1 2027. This information comes from GamesBeat, which cites four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans, all pointing to a release within the first quarter of 2027. Notably, Rockstar has not commented on this report prior to its publication.

If these claims hold true, the PC version of GTA VI would launch just a few months after its console debut. The game is officially set to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Rockstar currently only acknowledging these two platforms publicly.

GTA VI Could Reach PC Much Faster Than GTA V

This potential timeline marks a significant shift from Rockstar’s historical release patterns. Grand Theft Auto V made its debut on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, but its PC version didn’t arrive until April 2015—nearly 19 months later. In contrast, a Q1 2027 launch for GTA VI could shorten that gap to approximately two to four months, depending on the specific release date.

There has long been an expectation that GTA VI will eventually be available on PC. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick emphasized earlier this year that the PC market is crucial for the publisher, noting that “virtually all” of its successful titles eventually reach multiple platforms. However, he was careful to clarify that Rockstar has only officially announced GTA VI for consoles at this time.

Rockstar Has Yet to Announce for PC

As it stands, the report from GamesBeat serves as the first significant indication of a possible release window for the PC version, rather than an official confirmation. The publication also highlights that any PC launch would need to align with Rockstar’s high-quality standards before it goes live, especially considering the studio’s history of delaying GTA VI for further refinement.

This caution is particularly relevant given the game’s development timeline. Initially, GTA VI was expected to arrive in 2025, with subsequent delays pushing it to May 2026 and finally to November 19. Rockstar has ramped up its marketing efforts, showcasing characters like Leonida, Jason, and Lucia, while recent leaks have revealed content the studio would prefer to unveil on its own schedule.

Until Rockstar provides official confirmation, PC players should regard Q1 2027 as a reported target rather than a definitive release date. If the insider information proves accurate, the era of prolonged waits for Rockstar’s flagship titles to reach PC may soon be a thing of the past.
