As the month draws to a close, the gaming community finds itself once again pondering the status of Haunted Chocolatier. Eric Barone, affectionately known as ConcernedApe, the mastermind behind the beloved Stardew Valley, has taken to his blog to reassure fans that he remains diligently focused on his latest project.
Progress Amidst Anticipation
In his recent update, Barone expressed his satisfaction with the strides he has made, despite the myriad of responsibilities that occupy his time. “I’m still here, still making progress. Thanks for waiting and sorry it’s taking so long,” he shared. His commitment to the project is palpable, with Barone stating that working on Haunted Chocolatier is his primary passion at the moment.
Barone’s dedication to quality is unwavering. He emphasized, “I won’t compromise on the quality of the game by rushing it or releasing it too early. Then all my time would be wasted, anyway.” This sentiment reflects his meticulous nature, as he often critiques himself harshly over even the minutest details. Yet, he remains optimistic about the game’s potential, noting, “I am certain, at this point, that I will enjoy the game when it is finished. In fact, I already enjoy playing it in its unfinished state, especially after some recent additions I made.” He hopes that players will share in this enjoyment once the game is ready for release.
While excitement builds, Barone has not provided a timeline for the game’s launch, leaving many to wonder when they might finally get their hands on it. “I feel a little embarrassed writing any of this because you guys probably just want the game at this point, not to hear me yapping about it. I get that,” he admitted. Acknowledging the challenge of maintaining enthusiasm during a prolonged wait, he expressed gratitude for the patience of his supporters. “I really cherish those who do keep the faith, though, and I wish you, your family, and your pets, peace and prosperity through all seasons.”
In a previous update, Barone hinted at the game’s expansive nature, stating that Haunted Chocolatier is “way bigger than Stardew Valley.” He elaborated on this by mentioning the extensive maps, diverse monsters, and intricate item systems that have been significantly enhanced. With such ambitious plans in place, it appears that fans may need to continue their wait, perhaps with a touch of patience and anticipation as they twiddle their thumbs in eager expectation.
