Here’s why I’m getting the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 AND the Pocket Classic

Retroid Reveals Pricing and Availability for Pocket Flip 2 and Pocket Classic

Over the past few weeks, Retroid has been teasing fans with details about its upcoming Retroid Pocket Flip 2 and Pocket Classic. Today, the company finally unveiled the pricing and availability for these new gaming handhelds.

The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 will be available for 9 with the Dimensity 1100 processor or 9 with the Snapdragon 865. On the other hand, the Retroid Pocket Classic will cost 9 for the 4GB+64GB model and 9 for the 6GB/128GB variant.

For those eager to get their hands on these devices, pre-orders will open on March 17 with a discount on the Flip 2 and a discount on the Classic. Additionally, Retroid is offering a “Combo” deal that includes both devices at a discount.

What sets these gaming handhelds apart is their different form factors. The Pocket Classic is perfect for on-the-go gaming, while the Pocket Flip 2 offers a larger screen and better ergonomics for home use.

Emulating Xbox and PS3 Games on Retroid Devices

Despite its Snapdragon 865 processor, the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 has the power to emulate Xbox and even PS3 games. After the release of the Retroid Pocket 5 last year, Linux gaming firmware like ROCKNIX and Batocera became available for download, allowing users to play Xbox games on their Android handhelds.

Installing these firmware options is a bit complex, but it doesn’t affect the native Android experience on the device. Users can simply flash the firmware to a microSD card and switch between Android and Linux gaming by inserting or removing the card.

With the Snapdragon 865 chip powering the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, users can expect similar capabilities for emulating Xbox games on this new device. The flexibility to switch between Android and Linux gaming makes these devices stand out in the market of retro gaming handhelds.
