Hit cowboy co-op shooter’s servers are struggling, developer says its service provider ‘is currently drinking mojitos instead of helping’

Progress is being made in the world of Far Far West, the highly anticipated robot wizard cowboy shooter that has recently launched on Steam. Developer Evil Raptor has announced that while the servers are now operational, some promotional codes are still experiencing issues. In a recent update shared on Discord, the studio expressed optimism, stating, “We’re still working on a fix and we HOPE that the servers are gonna hold from now on.” They are also exploring a workaround that could alleviate the dependency on their network for online gameplay, which they described as “NICE!”

Server Challenges and Community Engagement

The patch addressing these server challenges is currently available on the Far Far West beta branch. Evil Raptor encourages players to participate in testing, noting that this would expedite the release of the patch, which they emphasized is “EXTREMELY helpful.” Additionally, a dedicated Far Far West Beta Discord channel has been established, inviting players to join the conversation and provide feedback.

Despite the server hiccups, Far Far West has quickly garnered attention, having sold over 250,000 copies within just two days of its release. This impressive figure is complemented by an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam, based on more than 8,900 reviews. The game’s ability to be played solo or with friends using session codes or direct invites through Steam has likely contributed to its favorable reception, even amidst the ongoing server challenges.

In a light-hearted moment, the studio humorously noted that the delay in resolving server issues was partly due to their service provider “currently drinking mojitos instead of helping.” While this may not be a serious complaint, it certainly adds a touch of levity to the situation. As the community eagerly awaits further updates, players have expressed their gratitude for the game, with one user exclaiming, “HOLY COW!! Thank y’all so much, it means the world to us to see you all enjoying FFW so much.” To celebrate, a promo code was shared, although players are advised to wait until the server issues are resolved before using it.
