How to help the Jar in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In the enchanting world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players embark on a journey that begins with an intriguing encounter in the Spring Meadows area. Here, adventurers will meet a peculiar creature known as the Jar, whose plight is impossible to overlook. This charming monster, unable to move without light, carries a dimly lit lamp that sets the stage for an engaging quest.

To assist the Jar, players must ignite his lamppost by locating a crucial item: the resin. This quest item is hidden within the same Spring Meadows area, and while the game lacks a quest log, it’s essential to remember this task early on to reap its rewards later. Completing this quest not only enriches the narrative but also grants players a valuable item that enhances their combat capabilities.

To acquire the resin, players should follow these steps:

  1. Proceed along the main route until reaching an area populated with patrolling enemies and adorned with white flowers. Take the left path that descends towards a visible bridge.
  2. Instead of crossing the bridge, opt for the right-hand path that leads underneath it.
  3. As you pass beneath the bridge, look ahead to spot a cluster of crates near some tree roots. Use your free aim to smash these crates and unveil the hidden resin.

For those unfamiliar with the free aim mechanic, simply hold the left trigger on your controller to aim, then press the right trigger to fire. Alternatively, on a mouse, hold the right button and click the left button. With the resin in hand, return to the Jar, who will express gratitude for your efforts.

Upon successfully lighting the lamp, players are rewarded not only with a delightful piece of lore regarding the Paintress but also with a Healing Tint Shard, which provides an extra healing item for future battles. As with many quests involving the Nevron, players face a moral choice: after completing the Jar’s quest, they can choose to engage in combat with him, yielding additional resources but potentially leaving a lingering sense of guilt for defeating such a charming character.
