Intel is making another round of layoffs

Chip manufacturing powerhouse Intel is embarking on another phase of workforce reduction, as indicated by a recent WARN notice filed with California’s Employment Development Department (EDD). This notice reveals that approximately 107 employees will be affected at the company’s Santa Clara headquarters. In a statement confirming the layoffs, Intel disclosed that it plans to trim 15 to 20 percent of its workforce within its chip manufacturing division.

Strategic Realignment for Future Growth

A representative from Intel articulated the company’s vision, stating, “As we announced earlier this year, we are taking steps to become a leaner, faster, and more efficient company. Removing organizational complexity and empowering our engineers will enable us to better serve the needs of our customers and strengthen our execution.”

The decision to reduce staff is part of a broader strategy aimed at positioning Intel for future success. The company emphasized that these choices were made after thorough consideration of what is necessary for sustainable growth. “We will treat people with care and respect as we complete this important work,” the representative added, underscoring the company’s commitment to its workforce during this transition.

Earlier this year, Intel set ambitious goals to cut operating costs by 0 million in the 2025 financial year and an additional billion in 2026, reflecting its ongoing efforts to streamline operations and enhance financial performance.
