I’ve reviewed over 100 gaming headsets, and Steelseries’ latest is the most exciting one in ages

Introducing the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Omni, a remarkable addition to the SteelSeries lineup that elevates the already impressive Arctis Nova Pro. This new wireless gaming headset offers full console compatibility, eliminating the need for users to choose between Xbox or PS5. With enhanced sound quality and an upgraded microphone, the Nova Omni retains the swappable batteries and sleek design that fans have come to love.

Positioning in the Lineup

While the Nova Omni is not quite the flagship model—reserved for the premium SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite—it does position itself as a more accessible alternative. The Elite boasts top-tier materials and carbon fiber speaker drivers, making it the pinnacle of SteelSeries’ offerings. In contrast, the Nova Omni sits just above the Nova Pro, providing nearly all the same features and compatibility at a more approachable price point. With the Nova Pro recognized as a versatile choice in gaming headsets, the Nova Omni is poised to fill the gap as an ideal middle ground.

Hi-Res Audio Certification

SteelSeries describes the Nova Omni as “a master key that unlocks Hi-res Wireless certified audio and multi-system control.” This certification signifies that the headset can deliver exceptional audio sampling rates, with the Nova Omni capable of sampling at up to 96kHz and a depth of 24-bit. For context, this surpasses the standard CD quality of 44.1kHz at 16-bit.

The headset is equipped with 40mm drivers that utilize neodymium magnets, tuned specifically to enhance audio performance. The combination of Hi-Res Audio and these drivers allows the Nova Omni to achieve a frequency range of 10-40kHz over wireless, matching the Nova Elite and exceeding the 20-20kHz range of the Nova Pro Wireless. This extended range is designed to minimize distortion near the upper limits of human hearing, ensuring a clearer audio experience.

Connectivity Options

One of the standout features of the Nova Omni is its extensive connectivity options. It includes a GameHub that serves as both the wireless PC dongle and a battery charger, complete with a control box featuring a dial and OLED display for easy setup. The back of the GameHub is equipped with additional USB-C ports for connecting to various consoles, including the PS5, Xbox, or Switch. It also offers an analog line-in and line-out, allowing users to connect desktop speakers. In total, the headset can connect to five devices simultaneously, with the capability to listen to four of them at once.

Microphone and Comfort

The Nova Omni features a newly designed omnidirectional microphone, which, while typically less favorable for headset mics, benefits from advanced AI noise-canceling technology. SteelSeries claims this mic can reduce up to 96% of background noise, significantly outperforming many other gaming headsets.

With a comfortable headband and earcup design, swappable batteries that provide virtually unlimited battery life, and a retractable microphone, the Nova Omni is shaping up to be a formidable contender in the gaming headset market. Additionally, a new app offers over 200 game-specific audio presets, further enhancing the user experience.

Available now, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Omni is priced at 9.99 / £349.99 / €399.99. It is offered in classic black or white, along with a striking new dark blue option.
