Unveiling ‘ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom’
Kakao Games, under the leadership of co-CEOs Kim Tae-hwan and Lee Si-woo, has officially announced the title of its upcoming PC MMORPG, ‘ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom’, developed by XLGAMES, led by CEO Choi Kwan-ho. This announcement, made on the 3rd, marks a significant milestone as the company has also secured a global publishing agreement for the game.
‘ArcheAge S’ is being meticulously crafted for a worldwide audience, with a focus on optimizing the experience specifically for PC users. The project is helmed by PD Kim Kyung-tae, who previously led the original planning team for ‘ArcheAge’. This new installment aims to reinterpret the core values and identity of the beloved franchise, ensuring it resonates with contemporary gaming trends.
Through this strategic agreement, Kakao Games has fortified its domestic and international service rights for ‘ArcheAge S’, enhancing its portfolio of new game offerings. Drawing from its extensive experience in MMORPG publishing and live operations, the company is poised to implement comprehensive marketing strategies and maintain stable service delivery. This collaborative effort with the developer is aimed at providing a high-quality gaming experience for users around the globe.
Since its debut in 2013, the original ‘ArcheAge’ has emerged as a flagship Korean intellectual property, cherished by players worldwide for its intricate world-building, inspired by the original novel, and its emphasis on player freedom and large-scale combat. Following the recent launches of ‘ArcheAge War’ in 2023 and the forthcoming ‘ArcheAge Chronicles’ in 2024, the introduction of ‘ArcheAge S’ signifies a continued expansion of the franchise across various platforms and genres.
Co-CEO Lee Si-woo expressed optimism about the new title, stating, “We expect ‘ArcheAge S’ to provide a fresh experience while inheriting the essential fun of the ‘ArcheAge’ IP, which has been loved by global users for a long time.” He emphasized the commitment to ensuring the competitiveness of the ‘ArcheAge’ brand shines brightly in the global market.
