In addition to an extensive list of bug fixes, Pre-Release 1 introduces a noteworthy technical upgrade to the Number Provider system. Below, we delve into the details of Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 Pre-Release 1.

Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 Pre-Release 1 Patch Notes

Here are the patch notes for Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 Pre-Release 1:

UI Changes

macOS Improvements

  • Exclusive Fullscreen mode has returned for macOS users.
  • A new “Menu/Dock Visibility” option is now available in Video Settings, allowing players to control the visibility of the macOS Menu bar and Dock while in fullscreen mode.
  • The cursor is now confined to the window when Exclusive Fullscreen is active.

Technical Changes

Number Provider System Overhaul

The standout technical enhancement in Pre-Release 1 is a comprehensive restructuring of the Number Provider system. The registries for minecraft:numberprovider and minecraft:numberprovider_type have been divided into separate registries for integer and float calculations:

  • Integer: minecraft:contextintprovider and minecraft:contextintprovider_type
  • Float: minecraft:contextfloatprovider and minecraft:contextfloatprovider_type

A variety of number provider types have been categorized into integer and float variants, including:

  • Integer: minecraft:constant, minecraft:uniform, minecraft:storage, and arithmetic operators have been renamed – minecraft:sum is now minecraft:add, minecraft:product is now minecraft:mul, minecraft:minimum is now minecraft:min, and minecraft:maximum is now minecraft:max.

New integer-specific providers include:

  • minecraft:abs, minecraft:sub, minecraft:mod, minecraft:floormod, minecraft:div, minecraft:floordiv, minecraft:pow, minecraft:negate, and minecraft:from_float.

New float-specific providers include:

  • minecraft:ceil, minecraft:cos, minecraft:sin, minecraft:sqrt, minecraft:floor, minecraft:round, minecraft:truncate, minecraft:length, and minecraft:from_int.

Cooking Recipe Changes

  • The cookingtime field for all cooking recipes is now mandatory. Custom Smoker and Blast Furnace recipes should be updated to include an explicit cooking time value.

Block State Providers

  • Block State Providers can now be defined as standalone types in a registry and referenced via a namespaced string.
  • Several provider types have been renamed for consistency, including minecraft:simplestateprovider to minecraft:simple and minecraft:weightedstateprovider to minecraft:weighted.

Bug Fixes

Notable fixes in Pre-Release 1 include:

  • Resolved an issue where fuel in Blast Furnaces and Smokers was smelting double the expected number of items.
  • Fixed Endermen’s ability to teleport onto waterlogged blocks.
  • Corrected the behavior of arrows bouncing off Endermen during teleportation.
  • Addressed the simultaneous use of jab and charge attacks by Drowned holding spears.
  • Rectified the swimming animation of Drowned.
  • Fixed the landing behavior of Ender pearls at high speeds.
  • Corrected the music event in Dappled Forests, which was incorrectly using Flower Forest music instead of Forest music.
  • Fixed the generation of Copper veins producing ores with stone variants on the deepslate layer.
  • Addressed the generation of deepslate iron ore and tuff veins above Y=0.
  • Resolved an issue where Abandoned Camps located on biome edges could generate Explorer Maps leading back to themselves.
  • Fixed empty buried treasure maps from previous game versions displaying incorrectly.
  • Corrected the alignment of the World Options screen.
  • Fixed an infinite loading screen issue caused by enabling commands in World Options and clicking Edit Game Rules.
  • Resolved the difficulty locking issue that did not immediately disable the difficulty button.
  • Fixed precision loss in Number providers when reading initial values in integer mode.

Players can now download this pre-release on their devices to explore the new features ahead of the official drop in the coming weeks.
