Mojang’s iconic title, Minecraft, has once again captured the spotlight, leading the charts with the highest number of monthly active users (MAU) for July. According to Newzoo’s latest rankings, which encompass data from the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, Minecraft has outperformed its closest competitor, Roblox, which secured the second position. This marks a continuation of Minecraft’s dominance, as it also held the top spot in the previous month.
Shifting Dynamics in the Gaming Landscape
Roblox, while maintaining its stronghold, climbed one position month-on-month, showcasing its resilience in the competitive gaming arena. Meanwhile, Fortnite experienced a slight dip, falling to third place. The Call of Duty franchise, encompassing Modern Warfare 2, 3, and Warzone 2, remained stable in fourth position, demonstrating its enduring appeal among gamers.
Notably, The Sims 4 made a remarkable leap, soaring 23 positions to land in fifth place. This surge is likely attributed to a data anomaly from the previous month. League of Legends also saw an upward trajectory, moving up one spot to sixth. Riot Games’ Valorant made headlines by climbing to seventh place, a significant improvement from its previous standing in the lower half of the MAU rankings.
In terms of revenue, Valorant not only secured the highest earnings among PC titles for July but also repeated its success from June. Fortnite followed closely, rising two positions to claim second place in revenue generation, ahead of The Sims 4, which climbed to third. League of Legends also enjoyed a boost, moving up five places to fourth, while World of Warcraft made a notable ascent to fifth place.
