In a year that continues to build on its legacy, No Man’s Sky has once again captured the attention of its community. Since its launch in 2016, Hello Games has consistently revitalized the space exploration experience, and 2025 has been no exception. The release of Worlds: Part 2 introduced significant reworks to the universe simulation, while the Relics update brought a unique twist with space palaeontology. Players were also treated to the chance to oversee stellar towns in the Beacon update and engage in multi-crew spacecraft design through Voyagers, which has reportedly attracted the highest number of concurrent players since the game’s debut.
Expeditions and Opportunities
As the year draws to a close, Hello Games is embracing a reflective spirit by reintroducing all four expeditions linked to each update. This initiative allows players to revisit past adventures, while the rerun of the 2021 Beachhead Expedition presents a fresh opportunity to earn the iconic Normandy SR-1 from Mass Effect. The current Titan expedition focuses on exploring the newly introduced planet types from Worlds: Part 2, offering players the chance to acquire a “living ship” among other rewards.
Following the conclusion of Titan on December 2, the Relics expedition will commence, inviting players to join the Galactic Palaeology Society in their quest for ancient fossils. This will be succeeded by the Corvette expedition, starting on December 17 and extending through the holiday season, where players will assemble a Corvette-class starship while evading a relentless Sentinel horde. As the New Year approaches, No Man’s Sky will wrap up the festivities with a redux of the Breach expedition, which recently concluded its initial run. This atmospheric journey allows players to explore an abandoned universe, tracking the heat signature of the Fireship Arcadia, evoking memories of the haunting Adrift expedition.
For those who regularly engage with No Man’s Sky and may have missed these expeditions, the upcoming weeks present an excellent opportunity to catch up. While Hello Games remains tight-lipped about the specifics of 2026’s offerings, co-founder Sean Murray hints at exciting developments ahead. “We already have so much more content planned and in active development,” he shares, expressing eagerness to unveil what lies in store for players.
Looking further into the future, 2026 is expected to shed light on Hello Games’ next ambitious project, Light No Fire. Since its reveal in December 2023, details have been scarce, but Murray has provided intriguing insights. He mentioned that the Earth-sized planet featured in Light No Fire will boast “real oceans,” necessitating “large boats and crews” for exploration, hinting at a new layer of adventure for players to anticipate.
