Open-world survival crafting game RuneScape: Dragonwilds announced for PC

Jagex has unveiled RuneScape: Dragonwilds, an exciting new addition to the RuneScape universe, designed as an open-world survival crafting game. Set to launch in Early Access on PC via Steam this spring, the game promises to immerse players in the rich lore of Gielinor.

“We’re so excited to finally give players a glimpse at the next entry in the RuneScape franchise today with RuneScape: Dragonwilds,” stated Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy in a recent press release. He emphasized that this title represents a fresh experience within the beloved RuneScape realm. “From the very beginning, community feedback has been at the heart of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. We’ve already conducted closed alpha tests with some of our closest community members, and we’ll be listening to player feedback when building the game throughout Early Access.”

Bellamy further highlighted the dedication of the new development team, composed of industry veterans, who are committed to ensuring that RuneScape: Dragonwilds resonates with both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Game Overview

Set on the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, players will encounter awakened dragons and must gather resources, build structures, and craft tools to survive. This cooperative survival crafting game allows for one to four players to team up, with the ultimate goal of mastering survival skills and uncovering ancient secrets to confront the formidable Dragon Queen.

  • Grind Skills, Slay Dragons: Players will need to locate dragons, prepare for battle, and carve their path to victory. The constant threat of dragons looms as they level up and arm themselves for the challenges ahead.
  • Survival Through Sorcery: Players can explore the vibrant regions of Ashenfall, utilizing transformative magic to manipulate their environment and uncover the ruins of lost civilizations.
  • RuneScape at its Core: The game incorporates quests, skill leveling, and rune-wielding to shape the world, blending high fantasy with light RPG elements and iconic RuneScape lore.
  • Community-Driven, Player-Centric: The development process is heavily influenced by player feedback, ensuring that the game evolves in line with community expectations.

Currently in its alpha testing phase, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is set to transition into Early Access in spring 2025. As the project develops, players can expect a dynamic experience that may change significantly based on ongoing feedback.
