Google is set to launch a pilot program aimed at simplifying the process of bringing PC games to mobile. This initiative will provide support from Android game development all the way through publishing games on Play Store.
Two popular games, “DREDGE” and “TABS Mobile” (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator), optimized for mobile, will be released on Android this month. Additionally, “Disco Elysium” is expected to make its way to Android later this year.
In a significant move, Google has declared Vulkan as the official graphics API for Android, enabling features like ray tracing and multithreading. This transition to Vulkan will enhance the graphics processing capabilities on Android devices.
Google introduced the Android Dynamic Performance Framework (ADPF) last year, allowing games and performance-intensive apps to adjust performance based on the device’s thermal state. Updates to ADPF, in collaboration with MediaTek and game engines, aim to provide longer and smoother gameplay sessions on devices like the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 series.
Google Play Games on PC
Continuing its investment in Play Games on PC, Google is gearing up for the general availability of the application later this year. The platform, currently in beta, brings Android titles to Windows.
One of the key announcements involves making all mobile games available on PC by default, with the option to opt out at any time. Games will be categorized as “Optimized” or “Playable,” based on quality standards and minimum requirements for a great gaming experience.
Google Play Games store is expanding its support to include native PC games, including exclusive PC titles like “Game of Thrones: Kingsroad,” “Sonic Rumble,” and “ODIN: VALHALLA RISING.” New features such as custom control mappings and multi-account support aim to enhance the gaming experience on PC.
Moreover, Google Play Games on PC now supports AMD laptops and desktops, with plans to collaborate with PC OEMs to make the Windows app easily accessible on new devices right from the start menu. Additional updates include emphasizing Play Points and offering up to 10x points boosters for users.
