Planet Coaster 2’s spring roadmap splashes down, with ’round-bottomed flumes’ coming in March and buildable restaurants arriving in April

Frontier Developments has been diligently nurturing its theme-park simulation, Planet Coaster 2, since its launch in October. Despite an initial rollercoaster of challenges, the studio’s commitment to post-release enhancements has been unwavering, akin to the gentle flow of a lazy river.

Upcoming Features and Enhancements

As the seasons change, so too does the game, with exciting updates on the horizon. January saw the introduction of improved flume simulation for the new waterslides, followed by February’s addition of customizable video billboards, allowing players to create their own advertisements. The latest roadmap reveals a series of substantial features set to enhance gameplay in the coming months.

The next update, scheduled for later this month, promises to elevate flume construction with increased flexibility. Update 3 will introduce a wider variety of guest and raft movements on specialized flume pieces, enhance the visual effects of guests launching off flumes, and incorporate “inflatable deformation” for rafts, allowing them to realistically bend and squash as they navigate the slides. Additionally, players can look forward to the introduction of “round-bottomed flumes,” a whimsical term that may evoke memories of classic rock tunes.

April’s Update 4 will unveil a new feature: in-park restaurants. This addition allows players to construct dining establishments alongside smaller food stalls, catering to a broader range of guest needs and preferences. While details remain somewhat ambiguous, the prospect of offering both food and drink in a single venue could encourage players to design more intricate dining experiences.

Beyond these enhancements, both updates will introduce new rides to the mix. Update 3 will feature the Vector, an inverting suspended rollercoaster, while Update 4 is set to reveal another ride alongside the new restaurant option. Moreover, Update 3 will revive the ‘Western’ park theme, enabling players to craft a lively, cowboy-inspired amusement park reminiscent of the original Planet Coaster.

In addition to these exciting features, ongoing improvements will be made to performance, stability, and economy management, as well as specific elements such as ride attendants. Looking ahead, April will not mark the end of support for Planet Coaster 2, as further updates and enhancements are planned for May and beyond. Players can anticipate the arrival of Update 3 on March 20, setting the stage for an enriched gaming experience.
