Prodigy Learning and Minecraft Education introduce new cyber security credential for students — EdTech Innovation Hub

Prodigy Learning, an innovative education technology firm based in Ireland, has unveiled its latest initiative: the ‘Cyber in Minecraft’ credential programme, developed in collaboration with Minecraft Education. This programme is tailored to impart essential cybersecurity skills to students, leveraging the engaging and interactive environment of the Minecraft platform.

Engaging Cybersecurity Education

As the inaugural release stemming from their partnership established earlier this year, ‘Cyber in Minecraft’ seeks to merge game-based learning with industry-recognized credentials. A recent survey conducted by Cyber.org revealed that a significant 75% of educators report a medium to high interest among students in pursuing careers in cybersecurity. In response to this growing enthusiasm, the programme provides an accessible entry point for students to delve into the world of cybersecurity.

The curriculum is structured into three comprehensive units that cover vital topics such as digital citizenship, networking, and security. Upon completion of the course, students will undertake a capstone exam. Those who successfully pass will be awarded a Cyber in Minecraft certificate along with a digital badge, signifying their newfound expertise.
