In an unexpected turn of events, Fading Club has unveiled the first trailer for Psychopomp 2, a sequel to the acclaimed horror dungeon crawler that left players intrigued as the credits rolled on its predecessor. This announcement comes approximately one year after the definitive Gold version of the original game was launched.
Gameplay Evolution
The original Psychopomp drew inspiration from classic grid-based dungeon crawlers, reminiscent of titles like Legend of Grimrock. It offered a unique blend of survival horror elements, where players navigated through dark, oppressive dungeons filled with grotesque creatures. Unlike traditional spellcasting or dice rolls, players relied on close-range combat, wielding tools such as a claw hammer to fend off their foes.
In the sequel, players will step into the shoes of a new character—a besuited, waifish anime boy introduced at the conclusion of the first game. Psychopomp 2 promises to revamp the gameplay experience by shifting to a more conventional third-person perspective, liberating movement from the constraints of the original’s grid system. While the game retains its signature claustrophobic dungeons, it also introduces expansive environments and even hints at a serene settlement, diversifying the gameplay landscape.
