In a troubling incident that unfolded at a Rhode Island cinema, four male teenagers, aged between 14 and 16, have been charged following a violent altercation outside the Apple Cinemas on Bald Hill Road in Warwick. This unsettling event occurred shortly before midnight on April 15, as reported by local news outlets.
According to Providence television station WPRI, the disturbance began when the teenagers became agitated after being asked to maintain quiet during a screening of A Minecraft Movie. The situation escalated as the suspects followed three adults to their vehicle, where they launched an attack, resulting in two of the adults being slashed with knives.
Both WLNE-TV and WJAR-TV confirmed that the injuries sustained by the victims were not life-threatening. Prompt police response led to the swift apprehension of the suspects, along with the recovery of the weapons used in the assault. The Warwick Police subsequently placed the four juveniles into the custody of the Rhode Island State Training School, awaiting their appearance in Family Court.
Police Major Joel Thomas provided details regarding the victims’ injuries, noting that one individual suffered a laceration to the triceps, while another sustained a cut to the forehead. The incident, which marred what should have been a night of entertainment, highlights the unexpected dangers that can arise in public spaces.
A Minecraft Movie, inspired by the popular 2011 video game developed by Mojang Studios, has garnered significant box office success, grossing 3.9 million in the United States and Canada, with a global total of 7.7 million as of April 14, 2025. Despite the film’s lighthearted premise, the events that transpired outside the theater serve as a stark reminder of the complexities of youth behavior and the importance of safety in community spaces.
