RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business PC Performance Analysis

Last week, NACON unveiled RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business for PC, a title that harnesses the power of Unreal Engine 5. With its release, the time has come to delve into performance benchmarks and assess how it stands up on various hardware configurations.

Performance Benchmarks

For the benchmarking process, an impressive setup was utilized, featuring an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, 32GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 6000MHz, and a selection of graphics cards including AMD’s Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, RX 9070XT, alongside NVIDIA’s RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 4090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. The testing environment was based on Windows 10 64-bit, with the GeForce 576.88 and Radeon Adrenalin Edition 25.6.3 drivers in play.

Notably, RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business lacks a built-in benchmark tool. To navigate this, the police station area was selected for testing, recognized as one of the most demanding segments early in the game, providing a reliable indicator of overall performance.

Teyon has incorporated a commendable array of graphics settings, allowing PC gamers to fine-tune options such as Textures, Reflections, Shading, Shadows, and Global Illumination. Additionally, the game supports advanced technologies like DLSS 4, AMD FSR 3.0, and Intel XeSS 2.0, enhancing the visual experience.

At 1080p with Epic Settings, all tested GPUs maintained framerates exceeding 60FPS, with the RTX 2080Ti achieving over 65FPS. This is a noteworthy accomplishment for a UE5 game utilizing Lumen and Nanite technologies.

When scaling up to 1440p with Epic Settings, the NVIDIA RTX 3080 emerged as the minimum requirement for a smooth gaming experience, while the AMD Radeon RX 6900XT fell short of the 60FPS mark. However, owners of the RX 7900XTX or RX 9070XT can enjoy seamless gameplay at this resolution.

For those aiming for Native 4K at Epic Settings, the NVIDIA RTX 4090 and RTX 5090 consistently delivered framerates above 60FPS. Observing a UE5 game leveraging Lumen and Nanite technologies performing so well at this resolution is a rare delight.

Despite some complaints regarding performance, it’s essential to recognize that RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business stands out as one of the few UE5 titles that runs exceptionally well. Contrary to some opinions suggesting it performs worse than its predecessor, benchmarks reveal otherwise. At 1080p with Epic Settings, the RTX 2080Ti in Rogue City frequently dipped below 60FPS, whereas Unfinished Business consistently exceeds 65FPS. Furthermore, at 4K with Epic Settings, the RTX 4090 struggled to maintain 60FPS in Rogue City, while Unfinished Business remains above 70FPS.

While some may find it fashionable to voice dissatisfaction online, it’s crucial to base opinions on facts. Unfinished Business indeed performs better than Rogue City, a sentiment that should excite fans who previously praised Rogue City for its performance and visuals.

Similar to its predecessor, Unfinished Business experiences occasional stuttering during world traversal, a phenomenon also present in Rogue City. The oversight of these stutters by some players raises questions about the consistency of feedback within the gaming community.

Graphically, Unfinished Business mirrors the aesthetic of Rogue City, employing Lumen for global illumination, resulting in some stunning visuals. However, the use of Software Lumen does lead to noticeable artifacts, and the facial and lip-sync animations leave much to be desired, often appearing subpar.

In summary, while Unfinished Business matches Rogue City in visual fidelity, it surpasses it in performance. This UE5 title showcases impressive capabilities on PC, with the primary drawback being infrequent traversal stutters. The game’s smaller environment compared to Rogue City contributes to its enhanced performance, and with support for DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, PC gamers have the tools to optimize their experience further.
