SAG-AFTRA calls off video games strike

The SAG-AFTRA performers union has officially announced the conclusion of its prolonged strike involving video game actors. In a recent update on its website, the union indicated that the strike will be lifted as of noon Pacific Time on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, following the guidance of chief negotiator and national executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.

New Developments in Negotiations

This decision comes on the heels of SAG-AFTRA reaching a “tentative” agreement with several leading video game companies, including industry giants such as Activision, EA, and Epic Games. The union’s communication emphasized the importance of returning to work, stating, “All SAG-AFTRA members are instructed to return to work on productions under the IMA, including work promoting or publicising projects produced under the IMA.”

In a further step, the SAG-AFTRA National Board is scheduled to convene in a special session on June 12, 2025, to deliberate on the tentative agreement. Should the board approve the terms, the agreement will then be presented for ratification by the union’s membership, adhering to established protocols. Details regarding the agreement are expected to be disclosed at that time, providing clarity and direction for all involved parties.
