School of Gaming (SOG), an innovative impact enterprise based in Finland, has seen significant growth in 2025, expanding its team from three to nine members. This development was shared by Principal Mikko Perälä through a recent LinkedIn update. SOG specializes in providing online after-school activities, clubs, and camps for children aged 7 to 18, utilizing popular games like Minecraft as educational tools.
Team Expansion and New Roles
As a Microsoft-certified partner for Minecraft Education Edition, SOG is dedicated to promoting game-based learning, which not only enhances children’s personal and social skills but also fosters a positive gaming culture. In his update, Perälä introduced the newest addition to the team, Liisa Hyvönen, who will oversee customer success and communication. “Liisa will be serving our public sector clients, as well as every new family and gamer who walks through the gates of the coolest school on the planet,” he remarked.
Hyvönen, who holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from Aalto University, will also contribute to the company’s free demo events. “If you join our FREE Minecraft Demo Sessions on Wednesdays, you will see Captain Liisa steering our inter-dimensional vessel called Nautilus,” Perälä added, highlighting the engaging nature of their offerings.
Perälä emphasized that School of Gaming is now supporting the well-being and future of hundreds of young Minecraft enthusiasts around the globe. He expressed excitement about the company’s trajectory, stating that they will continue to welcome new hires in the upcoming weeks, underscoring their commitment to growth in the realm of game-based learning. “I will introduce our new people one by one over the course of next weeks,” he concluded.
