New Features on the Horizon for Minecraft
In a recent showcase at TwitchCon, Microsoft’s Mojang team unveiled exciting developments for Minecraft, particularly highlighting the upcoming Chaos Cubed update and teasing the third content drop of the year, which introduces The Dappled Forest biome. As anticipation builds, Mojang has begun rolling out test builds, allowing players to experience these new features ahead of the official release.
Among the most anticipated additions is a feature that may seem minor but has been a long-standing request from the community: the ability to sit. This enhancement aims to deepen the immersion and social interaction within the game. While players have previously relied on various tricks and mods to achieve this, Mojang is set to simplify the experience with the introduction of a new item called The Cushion. Crafted from three Wool Slabs, players will have access to 16 vibrant color variations, making it easy to sit comfortably on any flat surface.

Additionally, Mojang is introducing Straw Beds, a novel sleeping option designed to facilitate nighttime skips. These beds are economical to craft, requiring just three hay bales to produce four Straw Beds. However, players should note that these are single-use items, and utilizing them will not alter the player’s respawn point. This feature is particularly advantageous for adventurers or builders who wish to explore or work on projects without resetting their home base.
Players eager to test these features can now download the Minecraft Bedrock Edition Preview 26.40.30 and Java Edition 26.3 Snapshot 3. While Mojang has yet to announce a specific name or release date for this content update, it is expected that further enhancements will emerge during the testing phase, shaped by player feedback and engagement.
