Minecraft finally adds seats after 17 years, but the potential for builders is even bigger

Mojang has released a significant update for Minecraft, introducing the ability to craft a Cushion using three Wool Slabs of any color. This new item allows players to sit and can be placed on supporting blocks, transforming Wood Stairs into stylish chairs without collision issues. The update also includes the Dappled Forest biome, new materials like the Poplar Wood set, Wool Stairs and Slabs, and bouncy Shelf Mushrooms. Additionally, players can craft Straw Beds from three Hay Bales, which stack up to 16 and allow for a quick sleep without establishing a spawn point. The Minecraft Java 26.3 Snapshot 3 and Bedrock Preview 26.40.30 are now available for players to test these new features.

You can put Minecraft’s gorgeous new biome and building blocks to the test right now

Mojang has introduced the Dappled Forest biome in Minecraft, featuring Poplar Trees with off-gray wood and autumn-colored leaves. The biome includes Shelf Mushrooms that grow on these trees, providing culinary uses and reducing fall damage. Players can collect Red Shrubs that retain their color and propagate with Bone Meal. Minecraft’s next update is revealed, bringing with it wool stairs, straw beds, and a brand new biome

Mojang has confirmed that the update "Chaos Cubed" will be released on June 16, 2026, introducing Sulfur Cubes, new Sulfur Cave biomes, and geysers. The unnamed latest update features the Dappled Forest biome, inspired by autumn colors, with Poplar wood and Poplar doors that have diamond-shaped windows. An Abandoned Camp structure will be included, designed to evoke curiosity rather than provide loot. Wool stairs and wool slabs are being added, along with the potential for straw beds, which may offer temporary sleeping options without resetting spawn points. More features will be revealed before testing begins later this summer.

The collection also includes customizable Jibbitz charms depicting iconic symbols from Minecraft, such as a steel pickaxe, a Creeper, a crafting table, and animals like a dog and a pig. The Minecraft x Crocs collection is set to be released on March 4th, with options for both adults and kids.
