Spider-Man 2’s first PC patch is live with ‘several crash fixes,’ UI improvements, and an auto-save backup

After a challenging debut that left Spider-Man 2 with a “mixed” user rating on Steam, the game has received its first substantial patch aimed at addressing numerous crash issues and bugs. This update comes with a commitment from the developers to deliver further bug fixes, enhancements, and performance optimizations in the near future.

The game’s launch on PC in January was marred by performance hiccups and frequent crashes, prompting a wave of frustration among players. According to PC Gamer’s Nick Evanson, the root of some performance problems may lie in the game’s implementation of GPU decompression via DirectStorage. While today’s patch notes do not specifically address this issue, Evanson suggests that resolving it could be complex, especially for users with lower-end gaming systems.

For those still grappling with performance issues, there are some workarounds available until a comprehensive solution is rolled out. Players are encouraged to ensure their GPU drivers are current, and if problems persist, reaching out to Nixxes support may provide additional assistance.
